Doctrinal Statement of Jonathan Owens
Missionary to Bulgaria
I BELIEVE . . .
the BIBLE to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God, and that He has preserved it for the English-speaking world in the Authorized King James Version.
that GOD is a person, eternally existing as a Trinity in unity---Father, Son, and Holy Spirit---three persons and yet but one God.
in the deity of our Lord JESUS Christ, in His Virgin Birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His shed Blood, in His bodily resurrection, and in His ascension to the Fatherís right hand.
in the deity and present ministry of the HOLY SPIRIT, that He convicts the sinner, regenerates the one who believes, indwells, seals, instructs, reproves, and guides the believer; that He fills and controls every life that is holy yielded to Him.
that man is totally depraved because of SIN, both by nature and practice, therefore separated from God, totally lost and in need of the convicting and regenerating ministry of the Holy Spirit; therefore needs to be born again.
in the personality of SATAN; in his power and kingdom, in his wiles and in his judgment at the cross and his eternal destruction in hell.
that SALVATION is the free gift of God offered to man by His Grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, plus nothing.
in the LOCAL CHURCH, which is a body of baptized believers who come together in obedience to Christ to carry out the dictates of the Bible.
and practice both ecclesiastical and personal SEPARATION on the basis of the Word of God.
in the SECOND COMING of the Lord Jesus Christ again in the air at any moment to catch up His church and reward their service. The unbelievers left behind will go through a period called the Tribulation, after which Christ shall return visibly to the earth to set up His Kingdom of one thousand years of righteous rule. After this, the unbelievers of all ages will stand at the Great White Throne to be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire, separated from God forever, while the believers spend eternity in the fullness of joy in Heaven with the Lord.
